PROCESS

The process began with designing the Sportsnet Saturday Night Hockey intro, creating a high-energy, cinematic tone that captures the excitement of live hockey. Every element of the 3D scene was built and rendered in Cinema 4D, with careful attention to lighting, textures, and composition. Marketing materials—including the motion video and key visual assets—were crafted with dynamic animation, smooth camera movements, and polished effects to engage viewers. The centerpiece was the fully animated intro, bringing all 3D elements to life and setting the tone for the broadcast. All visuals were refined through feedback to ensure a cohesive, professional, and immersive experience across the sequence.

PROBLEM

Creating the Sportsnet Saturday Night Hockey intro meant fully building a 3D scene in Cinema 4D from scratch, which presented several challenges. The modeling and rendering process took a very long time, and the project felt a bit rushed due to the assignment deadline. The TVs in the scene were particularly difficult they never fully worked as intended, though they still look visually appealing in the final video. Lighting was another major challenge, especially because of the closed-off environment and the large jumbotron, which made balancing shadows and highlights tricky. Despite these obstacles, careful planning and iterative adjustments allowed the project to come together as a polished, dynamic motion intro that captures the energy of Saturday Night Hockey.
