Kingbuds

Description

Kingbuds is a product visualization assignment where I designed and 3D-modeled a pair of wireless earbuds, created promotional imagery and motion clips, and built an interactive 3D model viewer with hotspots for users to explore key features directly on the website. The project involved modeling the earbuds in 3D, applying realistic materials and lighting, producing polished renders, and animating subtle movements to highlight form and functionality. All assets were assembled into a clean, engaging web presentation that showcases the earbuds through visuals, video, and interactive elements—demonstrating my skills in modeling, rendering, animation, and UI-focused interaction design.

GOAL

  1. Design and 3D model a pair of high-quality wireless earbuds that feel modern, sleek, and visually appealing.
  2. Develop a strong visual identity for the Kingbuds brand, focusing on clarity, simplicity, and a premium, tech-forward aesthetic.
  3. Produce a cohesive promotional campaign showcasing the earbuds through realistic renders, product shots, and motion clips that highlight their features and design.
  4. Build an interactive 3D model viewer with hotspots, allowing users to explore key functions of the earbuds directly on the website for a more immersive product experience.

PROCESS

The process began with developing a clean and modern visual direction for Kingbuds, focusing on a premium tech aesthetic that highlights both form and function. The 3D earbuds were carefully modeled from scratch, refining shapes, materials, and details to achieve a realistic and polished final product. A series of promotional images and renders were then created, using controlled lighting and composition to emphasize texture, comfort, and style. To enhance user interaction, an immersive 3D model viewer was built with customizable hotspots, allowing viewers to explore key features directly on the website. Finally, motion clips and promotional video assets were produced to showcase the earbuds in action, tying everything together into a cohesive and engaging presentation of the Kingbuds brand.

PROBLEM

During the Kingbuds project, several technical hurdles tested both design and problem-solving skills. One of the biggest challenges was working with booleans in Cinema 4D, which caused constant mesh issues and required multiple rounds of cleanup to achieve smooth, accurate cuts for the earbud details. Applying materials introduced even more problems with getting materials to appear correctly in both the final renders and the interactive model viewer demanded extensive troubleshooting, especially when textures stretched, appeared distorted, or refused to load entirely. Overcoming these issues ultimately strengthened the workflow and resulted in a polished, functional 3D product ready for presentation and interactive exploration.

RESULT / CONCLUSION

The Kingbuds project successfully established a polished and engaging product identity that highlights both style and functionality. The 3D-modeled earbuds, paired with realistic materials and lighting, created a modern and premium visual presence. Promotional renders, motion clips, and interactive 3D model viewers clearly showcased the product's features, while maintaining a cohesive and professional look across all assets. Together, these elements formed a unified presentation that effectively communicates Kingbuds' design philosophy, making the earbuds visually striking, interactive, and memorable for the audience.
